Talked about this in my last show. That truck is called an Opel Blitz. It was the heart and soul of the German Blitzkrieg in WW2. Opel was a subsidiary of General Motors. War is young men dying and old men making money. Ukraine is no different.

As a marine in WWII, Dad marched into Tokyo after the cease fire. Fearing bloody resistance, tough marines wept to see old & young starving, begging. On 12/7/2001 we were in Tokyo to make a film & interviewed veteran pilots. All agreed “Wars are fought by young men sacrificed by spiteful old men.”
Small point of fact. While Germany promoted itself as a "modern war machine", the majority of troop and equipment logistics used horses for nearly the entire length of the war. Blitzkreig was used as a tactic because of the length of time to bring the "gear from the rear".
That wasn't the message. GM "lost control" of Opel during the war, but every dollar Opel made made it back to GM coughers when the war ended and GM took control again. The point is Europe failed Ukraine today. They are only concerned about their cut getting away.
Also, not opposing American companies in general. I'm opposing fascist supporting companies by following brand messaging and political donations when I have gathered such info.
News to me, because it is highly unlikely that an individual would possibly know all of the world's or American history. So yes, for me, just. Because while I continue learning, I don't have an infinite knowledge of the entire being of the fabric of our vast universe.
Right now, I'm feeling like the message needs to be that supporting fascism isn't ok. Because the world in general needs to stop fascism from future reprisals after these current ones fail.
I can see that it's a stretch, though, I'm also not seeing broad push back of fascism from GM either.
Hitler had a picture of Henry Ford in his office. American Auto companies made money aligning with Hitler and then made money fighting him. Taking no side is siding with evil.
This maybe a discussion for another day, but the Duke and Duchess of Windsor was instrumental in moving money from the US to Germany to help their war effort. Money &guns. I’m sure Gen Motors was involved with those two. The guy who owned Electrolux vacuums was in on it. The Windsors took their cut.
The point is this. Europe failed Ukraine today during their "security" meeting. European leaders are worried about their cut of Ukraine instead of their own skin. That will end up being a costly mistake. If European countries wanted a taste after the war they should have sent troops, now.
Not sure about this one because it's Moscow and Washington who do not want Europe on the negotiating table so Russia and the US can have the resources for themselves actually
Europe wants to rebuild and invest so we can actually BUY it from Ukraine...
Thank you Texas Paul! My poor German-American grandfather fought his country of heritage because of tyranny in WWII and lost his legs. The poor suffer while the rich get richer. Dust Bowl, 80s Farm foreclosures, Housing crash in 2008, history repeats because we are made to think “it’s not my fault”.
The greed of a few. Will bring down the many. History has numerous scars of this.Yet, human beings never seem to learn. Those shiny objects we prize above all others. Is worthless compared to the life, love&the human experience w/ in nature. Not above it.We are bound to repeat this cycle, until we do.
I just want to say that the former Nazi company Bayer now owning the product Roundup is a little too on the nose. Think it’s time to get rid of that one.
I am not certain there are many old line car companies that don’t have a dark period in their past. I am not a car guy or a historian, but Ford, GM, Mercedes, VW, along with many of contemporary Japan car companies have questionable pasts. You pay your money and live with moral ambiguity.
Ferdinand Porsche, a nazi, designed the VW Beetle before making race cars. The worst is Hugo Boss designed SS and other uniforms. I had family on both sides, an uncle told stories of police forcing their town to wave to hitler. my grandfathers were all officers in US Army; Uncle Lt. KIA Philippines
Around 2013 I had a crew in my house installing a wall of doors. One carpenter said he had been with Halliburton in the Iraq green zone supporting troops’ quarters. Said he made so much money repairing screen doors and easy shit anyone in uniform could have done, but were not allowed to touch.
Tell me about it, I'm in the civil engineer corps and we don't even civil engineer our own bases... it's honestly embarrassing and it contributes to our lack of competency in our skill sets
War is, and always has been about profit. Hence, the phrase "Spoils of war!" The concept of enemies and allies is always, without fail, the idea of the rich and powerful. The people are merely the tools they use in their deadly game. The rich just convince the people it is worth dying for.
Except now its about all men of every age dying and women and children being kidnapped by Russian slavers and sold in the Royal slave markets in Saudi.
So happy to see you here, Texas Paul. I gave up on instagram. And twitter and facebook . So far blue sky is great. I hope it stays that way. A lot of like minded people.
That's so pathetic, making money off human tragedy. We're a terrible species with the shit we can do to one another and the means of justification. We don't deserve being called humanity. There's very little humanity in us.
IBM, Ford, Kodak, Bayer, Siemens, every german car company of course: VW, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, also Hugo Boss, Adidas, Puma, Chanel, Zeiss, the list goes on and on
oh yeah. pretty much any multinational company that existed in the 30s had dealings with the nazis. some more than others. but if they were around, they sold things to germany
Oh many. Ryan Kelley on Instagram has done many histories of companies (through skits) that show companies with ties back to working for Germany during WWII.

But holding GM responsible today for anything that happened in WW2 seems like a stretch.
I can see that it's a stretch, though, I'm also not seeing broad push back of fascism from GM either.

The idea Europe is doing nothing is very false I'm afraid. That's the fake spam
We are investing hard in defense for years anticipating Trump but now it's suddenly not good enough again. Silly games
