What we need is a mandatory year of service out of High School so kids can get to know kids from different parts of the country while doing something that makes this place better! Where a muslim kid from the Bronx becomes friends with some christian kid from Idaho…

Let it begin with young men organizing their neighborhood cookouts. I think that would get young men involved and connected and meet all sorts of new an interesting people. Have a father or grandfather help them start these cookouts too. Women have usually organized social gatherings, men?

Yes, I remember neighborhood cookouts from years ago, or a potluck gathering. People getting together to talk, laugh, disagree, whatever. But we had a good time and got to know each other. I agree, we need more cookouts.

I got to see my only friend this past weekend. We have decided to get together twice a year. We had a long discussion about how we used to be very personable and interact with everyone around us and what has happened?! Only thing we can come up with is FDT. It was a good weekend.
