I replaced a panel with Tom. I spent the whole day in my dark basement talking about how it all worked. The guy from the power company was ok to deal with, but the county inspector made some shit up to say then left. After he left, we discussed what he did not notice.

I used to live in an old farm house built in the early 1900’s. The most recent addition to it was in the 1950’s. Everything was retrofitted before codes so, yeah behind every plate was a surprise and a puzzle.

My father grew up in a house our family had owned since 1885. It had everything knob and tube and full of mercury. My mother grew up with pull chains from old gas fixtures replaced by electric bulb sockets. We built a custom house when I was tiny kid and my father got his breakers straight from GE.
