I think most ppl need to like go to therapy and stop ranting on social media about it for sure. Modding should be a safe space for people to express themselves, but like people can't seem to be normal 😭😭😭
yeah like realistically if people weren't writing Bomber Manifestos about it or trying to make a full time business out of a side hobby for one video game, no one would care ever
I support ppl who are actively creating things and selling them. If i don't like the thing they make, I just don't buy it. It's literally that easy, but there's some weird keyboard warriors who want to post nonstop about it, as if u have taken their firstborn child
i don't really care if ppl are selling mods tbh i just find it hypocritical when they get upset about people pirating them and throw a fit bc their mods are impossible to create or use without piracy in the first place
There are some mods that are simply ports, but the amount of work that goes into making them function correctly is herculean, hence the charges. Not all mods are good though and are worth paying for, but this doesn't negate the work of others who have refined their craft
This is not entirely true given the sheer amount of newly made 3d models for clothing made by creators like Bizu, Cultist, and Tsar. These are their own assets. Some are a combination of pre-existing 3d models, but many developers (for other games even) reuse some publicly available assets
sure, if you want to use those models outside of FFXIV without the game, in like, blender or something to create animations, with custom skeletons only, then no software issues are involved, then it's just copyright because they're based on ffxiv
Like. In regards to this I don’t pay for or pirate mods I don’t want to pay for but the only person whose mods I would ever be willing to pay for is papachin’s. The level of effort is insane and actually visible for his paid overhaul packs. The dedication is nuts.
To me, if you want to pay and support, go for it. If not, that's ok. Wait until it's free if you want it bad enough. Nothing good comes from pirating from smaller creators.
