I'd say we're lapsing into oligarchy&technofuedalism but the reigning mythos ("justification") is still that individual "merit" not lineage is the proper claim on power. It's why the rich are so determined to make you think they "earned" it.

This is important: it presents opportunity for attack.

Yeah it’s true that we’re not in lineage territory (yet) but I do think there is an increasing large part of the country that thinks Trump is chosen by God, and will rule by Divine Right instead of the power of the constitution. Separation of Church and State is vanishing rapidly.

Some of the Trumpers sure would like that — but that "Trump is chosen by God" people are just a faction and they'll have a hard time with the technofeudalist billionaires who think *they* should be king. Musk wants to buy America and be king of the world. Probably "anointed by AI" eventually. 🙄
