I like that idea of a box to keep it all in. And I feel you about the phone, I often end up taking photos of my paper scraps just to know that I've got it recorded somewhere.

Take a look at the Canadian smith Claudio Pino, the Japanese smith Kaz Ichikawa, the American smith Daniel Spirer, and the Native American artist Pat Pruitt. Each does really unusual work, often with multiple techniques. Might generate ideas.

They are some of my favorite current goldsmiths :). Glad you enjoyed them! Years ago the website Ganoksin was the world’s largest internet site for jewelers. Tons of free information from some of the top jewelers in the world.

I have spent a LOT of time on the Ganoksin forums, I always seem to end up there when I google a question I have. And I know the fundamentals of what we do doesn't change, but it still entertains me that I find a thread I'm reading through is from 2009 or something.

I was fortunate to be chosen to curate annual themed exhibitions for the site for several years. Got introduced to artists from around the world. It was a fantastic experience :). They have a new owner, still great info but for a fee now I think.

Even though I can draw and paint, my jewelry sketches usually suck. It’s like my brain can’t draw the idea but it can tell my hands how to create it.

Haha, self discovery is a wonderful thing! I can't draw at all. I don't see pictures in my head so can't imagine a thing to draw it. It's kind of hard to explain. I'm much better having materials in front of me and moving them about on a piece of paper until I get an idea of what I want to see.

Sometimes when I need ideas I go back to what I'm really excited about and explore it a bit, by looking at more images. Not doing something I've done before but trying to delve deeper! Not sure if that helps!

It absolutely does! I use Pinterest a lot for that, just looking through pictures for snippits of inspiration from this piece and that. I'll go have a browse.
