While ACA, VA Medicare, work related insurance etc. are nice, pay big bucks to handful, they are inherently inefficient for everyone else involved.

After a recently layoff, I’m depending on an ACA plan. If it goes away, I won’t be able to afford the medications or care I need. The cost of cobra for me was $800 a month. A friend of mine who lost her job because of the loss of a government contract, was looking at a cost of 1500/month for cobra.

Work stopped covering health insurance sending me to the marketplace. My cost per *month* is $1,009 just for me. My max out of pocket cost per year is $8,500. I got cancer. Over a 5 year period I paid 50K for insurance and 3 years of max out of pocket is over 25k. I got tax breaks they want to end.

I pay $1300/mo on NY ACA (up from $1k), have a $600 deductible. I looked into lowering my tier but knowing I'm going to need hand surgery and possibly more back surgery, a lower premium meant higher everything else and didn't pay. Without insurance my surgery+2 wk hospital stay would have been $100k

I have type 1 diabetes, RA, Ménière’s disease, and a couple other autoimmune issues. I am on SSDI as my only source of income and Medicare. I am pissed off and afraid. I will die rather quickly without insulin and other life saving meds. I don’t think anyone gets how bad this is!!

I'm on COBRA specifically because of this. If the ACA fails we'll go back to 62 day limits of periods without coverage before the pre-existing condition clause kicks in.
