I would have essentially gone into a funny farm had the union not been there to support me. I had 10 years of bullying. I suffered a stroke, a hole in the heart procedure, herniated discs in my back and neck, the union stood up to the bullies in a way I couldn’t.

Absolutely, and you should remember, often as not, if you work for an organization, there are many of them against you, as a union member the playing field is levelled. Equally, the union knows of other abuses and so can bring those to negotiations too.

My family also. My dad worked at Kaiser Steel in
Fontana for 30 years. They had a strong union. He got a steady check, regular vacations. We didn’t have a lot, but the job could be counted on and his pension allowed for comfortable retirement.

My 1st husband, Brian, was only 22 when he passed after a freak work accident.
He was an electrician’s apprentice working on a huge construction job.

OSHA found gross negligence, & Brian’s local IBEW remained by my side during the 2 years of litigation that followed.

Unions also protect families.

That is a sad story, but one of the finest examples of the benefits the union provided, even after your husband had passed.

The union kept fighting for their employee’s rights and the rights of the family until the case was completed and family awarded some benefits.
