Mine switched to domestic gritty kitty (thanks Odourlock!) but am having difficulty finding Canadian made kibble and wet food that doesn’t have weird ass stuff like cranberries and carrots.

Oh. ☹️ I'm sorry. I feed the limited ingredient salmon. I don't remember anything "strange" in it, but I started them on it a while ago. So I may be misremembering.
Tbh I think the cranberries and carrots are to introduce fiber into their diet and help keep them regular. I take those over the turbo starch fillers like corn and rice that just help create fat kitties with health issues 🤷♀️
They’ll still eat grass and leaves to keep themselves regular. It’s not a nutritional thing, just gut health. If there’s nothing like that in their diets in small but regular amounts (along with adequate water ofc) they can tend to get constipated. So indoor cat diets contain, like, cranberries
