They've been running on AI for years. I was too deep into Gaelic to quit when it became obvious that there weren't humans running the show any more. Then they restructured, I'd suddenly finished the course, so I quit.

Don't know Arabic, but general suggestion: HelloTalk. At least from upper beginner/intermediate level on incredibly helpful. Best way imho to learn after knowing the fundamentals is interacting (reading/writing/talking) with native speakers. Italki is also great, but it is paid

Also Anki. I think it's a bit wonky at first but there are many different decks you can use, so you can customize your level and what you are learning

Didn't they do this a year ago? I dropped my two year Portuguese streak for this exact reason when they announced it. There was an overnight rehaul of the app and the lessons all turned to shit.

It's still under construction but looking promising and worth keeping an eye out for: https://lingonaut.app/ it's pretty much going to be Duolingo but better, free (patreon funded) with actual explanations etc They are currently working on setting up courses.

I was close to 1000 in 日本語. I hadn't been engaged for a long time, but I kept at it to Make Number Go Up. Once I missed enough days that I couldn't repair the streak, I lost all interest. Seems like they're committed to making it even worse, so good job me, I guess.

Memrise has AI but it's easy to avoid clicking on that aspect of the service. The videos of people pronouncing words are good and the number of videos are expanding - I don't think those can be AI

Busuu. They have Arabic, and I transitioned to it for Japanese a few months ago and haven't looked back. It's actually teaching me concepts about the language that Duo was failing to.

Busuu is a really good learning app that alongside having quizzes also has actual reading material on why the language is structured the way it is alongside grammar rules and such

LingoDeer is a broadly accepted option for Asian languages. All human voiced.
I do find I need alternatives to learn kanji strokes though.
