Is there an open source alternative to Obsidian yet? I know about Dendron and FOAM but they aren’t nearly as slick.

I'm quite happy with Logseq on Android and desktop.
Haven't dug super deep but have some macros written that were easy to do; even though I don't really know Clojure it's really such a perfect fit of a use case for a lisp.

Is there some good reason not to like Obsidian, or do you just not like it?

I wanted to love Dendron but it just felt… wrong.

I'm a

fan. While not open source I'm all for supporting indie devs.

I use Joplin because I prefer to keep my notes simple.
Logseq is more powerful but I keep getting distracted.

I think Joplin is the closest analogue I've seen.
I've tried Roam and Logseq. Big nope to both. They're *forcibly* bulleted lists, not freeform documents. That doesn't jive for me at all.
I'm still an Obsidian user. Paying, at that. They've done me no wrongs. 💁

Fwiw, I found Obsidian's API docs and debuggability to be good enough when doing plugin development that I have... Basically no complaints.
I complain a lot, so that's really saying something.
I realize FOSS has a lot of other ethical reasons, too, ofc.
