Germans, please please do not hand your country, and Europe with it, over to Elon Musk

It’s now safe to say that Trump administration’s goals align with AfD’s, otherwise both Musk and Vance wouldn’t be pushing for their victory so aggressively. Germany is the biggest economy in Europe so it would be beneficial to have them along in this unholy alliance.

As of right now that’s extremely unlikely. The CDU took 1(!) vote with the AfD and it has massively damaged them. As things stand right now it’s more likely we get the most far left government we ever had in Germany (also very unlikely the CDU will probably still win), than the AfD.

The AfD is still dangerous. But for now they are mostly dangerous on the local and the state level.
The biggest problem is that Europe is not ready to stand against Russia without support from the US.

Orban was a career politician and before he got elected he acted very differently. Like seriously look up his quotes about 08 Georgia . He was pretending to be a big liberal guy wanting to reform the system and had lots of mainstream EU politcian support.

What i'm saying is the way Trump took power couldn't work anywhere but in the US. That doesn't mean RW assholes can't take power. It just would look different.Musk and Vance are currently trying to hamfist it the Trump way and that is going to piss alot of people off. Russians were way more subtile.

The AfD is still far from being in contention for the federal government. Despite fishing in the populist pond to a slightly worrying degree, the CDU is still far away from seriously considering a coalition with them, as it would likely splinter the party.

There's also the fact that the AfD runs on a sort of destructive nihilism very similar to MAGA, which isn't compatible with actual governance. So there isn't really an incentive to even consider working with them, as opposed to the US dynamic where the GOP relies on Trump to win anything
