Well the Japanese have done an incredible job at copying Scotch I have to say. Bourbon is a lot less subtle and varied than Scotch so I suspect they’d do a fine job making it.

Life is about choice and balance. I like unpeated sherry casks as a rule, but there are killer Malts out of bourbon casks as well.

A tool deployed in order to combat a neighbouring country literally threatening our dissolution is pretty unlikely to be deployed in a less grave situation and I think the Euros could be brought around on that. There's probably an interesting aspect on how something like that would uh, happen after all of this if it goes back in the bottle or you've effectively gone to try and nuke the entire IP system (considering how it is uh, bound up in the WTO under the TRIPS Agreement)

I admit that has genuinely been one of those thoughts I've been wondering about re:TRIPS Agreement and WTO in all this for the uh, IP stuff getting talked about.

And yeah, sure, probably doesn't matter at all at this point, but genuinely one of those thoughts I've been wondering about.

Yeah I will freely admit I have 0 idea and I trust that the people in our government in the know on that stuff can game out (as best they're able) the pros and cons but I do think there's maybe some value in something splashy. It'll need to wait a few weeks though, not a good opening move
