Happy BHM Day 22! Henry Ossian Flipper born into slavery, became the 1st African American graduate of West Point & 1st commissioned Black officer in the U.S. Army. He served in the Indian wars & became a property law expert, mining engineer, Spanish translator, and writer before he died in 1940.
