plants growing on the lower end of the "energy spectrum" would likely be taller and leggier but with more spaced out leaves.

plants with more energy could be super thick and potentially have more vibrant patterns or more advanced behaviours due to having the excess energy to devote to evolution

ohhhh that's super interesting, i wonder if i'll be able to find more info on the shadowfell's climate because i have limited knowledge atm. but this is super cool, this will be a good opportunity to kinda just go crazy and get creative!

just remember cold = less energy. so if its a colder enviroment then there are going to be less vivid and diverse plants. UNLESS they are getting nutrients from something else like devouring souls

now hold on, what if there *were* plants that relied on consuming souls, and with him being a soul monger... he could have his own little garden full of those plants which he feeds with lesser souls he gets. then, perhaps he then uses those plants or flowers to concoct xyz tonics 👁️

perhaps he could recycle lesser souls and combine/stitch them together into stronger ones he needs for spells via the sap from some of these plants.

ohhhh that could be a way for him to replenish spell slots yes.... lesser souls + certain types of flowers that grow in the shadowfell; or, maybe carnivorous plants like you mentioned that consume tiny beings without fully digesting them, so he extracts the "stored" lesser souls out of them!
