Clearly ctrl+[ and ] should increase and decrease the size of the text selection window and ctrl+< and > will move that window left and right.

Alt+left shift+V should allow the user to type in a number which will be the size of the selection window, then holding F6 and a combination of keys will move that selection window to roughly the equivalent screen location as those keys' location on the keyboard.

This is also why I never used EMACS in college.

EMACS is great as long as you can just type the entire thing in your head without looking at the screen.
