I am here to tell you that things would have been actively much worse for you if Trump had been in office these past four years, and will even more be worse if he is elected and able to put more people in SCOTUS over the next 4

Do you really think your strategy of "be an obnoxious oblivious blowhard who doesn't give a fuck about the legitimate fears of the people I'm talking to" is going to be effective at winning elections? Do you, really?
i personally think trying to convince trans people that dems have been good on trans issues, an argument i’ll make, is better coming from inside the tent than from cis people personally
Or at the very least not cis dudes in a thread full of trans women.
I pipe up with "uhh, he's actually done these good things" sometimes, but I choose carefully. Katie's post is like the perfect exemplar of one to NOT reply to.
OK so you honestly think, with the GOP-led trans panic currently happening, if Trump becomes president they will not roll back your rights? Keep in mind, the Dobbs case opinion written by Thomas already suggested *they should also revisit same-sex marriage and birth control* soon.
they're already going to do that anyways! and biden has done NOTHING! half the country has recently adopted some sort of anti-trans legislation or is looking into it and all we have gotten is "we see you. we hear you." and that's it!
What things do you believe are within Biden's current power that he has not done? He can't overturn state laws, and the GOP controls the House, so we can't create federal *laws* to override them either.
You are overlooking the fact that it's easier to make things worse than better. Biden is doing things at the federal level that *are holding back* some of the state bullshit. He can't overturn the laws, but he can at least protect military ppl stationed there, etc. Trump would take all that away.
Biden could walk into the House with a gun. nobody has the authority to stop him doing that. they can't even legally arrest him afterwards. he can unilaterally invade countries. he can declare anyone a terrorist and drone strike them with impunity. he could literally nuke the supreme court.
you cant claim Trump will be all powerful as president while also saying Biden has no power as president. it’s really weird. and Biden isnt the only democrat in power who we’re disappointed and angry with. The democrats as a whole have been failing to make substantive change on a number of issues
I DO NOT GIVE A SHIT WHAT IS "IN HIS POWER", MAYBE HE SHOULD TRY TO FUCKING EXPAND THOSE POWERS TO HELP THE FUCKING POOR AND MINORITY PEOPLE?
I WANT HIM TO FUCKING FLEX, I WANT HIM TO ATTEMPT THINGS.
FUCK, LITERALLY I JUST WANT HIM TO ACTUALLY FUCKING BE SEEN TRYING.
WHERE ARE THE FUCKING OPTICS?
That is not relevant to the current discussion. The state of our rights under a hypothetical second Trump admin is not applicable to discussions of shit Biden has done wrong. Biden still did those things. Those things are still wrong. And telling trans women “stop complaining or we’ll put you…
…in the camps!” doesn’t ACTUALLY look to us like Gee These People Sure Do Care About Our Rights And Are On Our Side. Especially when they don’t seem to care much about protecting those rights while in power!
EVERYTHING! I know you are going to pretend like the office of president is powerless, but it isn't. Even if it was, Biden is the president & can hold press events at any time for as long as he wants. If he had any objection to anything at any time, he could simply say so in clear & direct terms.
The thing I see all the time—including a bunch in this thread—is people blaming Biden for things Biden doesn’t have control over due to the structure of the US constitutional system (checks & balances & federalism & all that) & attributing something done by say Greg Abbott to Biden…
And I don’t think voting is best thought of as being a statement about your morals & being a good or bad person, it’s a pragmatic decision about who I think will decide a better job in a necessary role
Folks then get really angry at Biden, stay home or vote 3rd party to “send a message” or just out of anger…and in doing so help elect more of the people who really are responsible for the vast majority of the problems, which you know, doesn’t help!
Y’all really love trying to pretend conversations about Biden’s position re: Palestine / Israel is about literally anything BUT Biden’s position re: Palestine / Israel, huh?
FWIW I’m a straight guy, but my oldest kid, a minor until December 2025, is trans & it is terrifying seeing what red state govts have been doing especially to trans minors, I’m extremely happy to live in a solid blue state that has expanded protections for trans folks & my assessment of how best

buddy the current government has done fucking nothing to meaningfully oppose any of that. they're openly laying the groundwork for the real bad shit and dems are, as usual, helping and then bragging about how "tough" they are on security and how "good" the economy is and "please" won't you like me
Yes, because almost anything that can be done with the executive power of the president can be undone by the next president. That doesn’t mean Biden isn’t trying. I mean reading this article alone should be incentive to stop Trump from being reelected.
Like here in VA, our GOP governor wants to do that but our Democratic Senate has prevented it, mostly, except for some things he can do with executive power.
You can keep yelling at random people who don't live in swing states and whose presidential votes essentially don't count all you want, it will not help Biden.
If you can persuade Biden to listen to his constituents and stop, for example, facilitating a genocide, that might help him get some votes.
Hey buddy, maybe talking over the people who are being threatened *now* under Biden's administration is an arrogant and self-absorbed thing to do, and that shutting up and listening would be way more supportive
I used to think like you so here let me help you out.
*clears throat*
THINGS WILL NEVER GET BETTER IF YOU KEEP VOTING FOR THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO IMPROVE THINGS. THEY WILL NOT CHANGE UNTIL FORCED TO. ELECTORALISM HAS LIMITS. YOU CANNOT BROWBEAT PEOPLE INTO SUBSCRIBING TO YOUR LIMITED PHILOSOPHY.
"hm I keep trying to convince people of my viewpoint and they keep telling me to fuck off despite my logic making sense to me, this does not cause me to reflect on the value of my point or the validity of my position, clearly they are the problem."
I'm glad there's a big strong adult here to tell all the baby minorities how they don't know what's best for them, so you can properly take care of them.
Check how they assume that neither Katie or I are in those groups, then get mad when I say they're the big adult telling the babies what's good for them because by calling them an adult *I* assumed they were white and straight.
Idk democrats actually do stuff when not in power. They were all on trump about not opening schools and not running concentration camps on the border and being anti war until the minute biden took office. And he would be done soon and not about to take office for 4 more years.
They might be but the difference is that at this point we have 100% a good reason to protest because we’re not gonna give Trump a chance to do the right thing. Biden we “hold back” a little hoping HE DOES SOMETHING. We know how numbers work. It’s the INDIFFERENCE of the democrats.
Dude…this is so not your place. I’m a cis white woman who disagrees with her view, but, like…respect trans people’s own lived experiences and their right to prioritize them the way they say fit. Work on convincing other people, like white men and women for example.
For many people, myself included, things are actually objectively worse than they were four years ago.
Like, there are many ways in which it's better, but overall my ability to live has gone down.

"well i'm telling you you're wrong. i agree with me"

Biden is the better choice there too!

The only difference is that the Dems will do it under the table.
If they're willing to sabotage their voting base and the rep of the US Uni system to support reactionary causes, why not this.
If only we had someone to do something about a Supreme Court who accepts bribes and made it so women can't get healthcare under Biden.
What happens when we lose all civil rights under Biden?
When do you get angry?
I mean, I don't have any student loans anymore. That's nice. I'll give them that one point out of like a thousand. But all the other shit?
Yeah. It's bad.
