He's not wrong. I was a lifelong Republican until Trump won the nomination for 2016. After watching the ENTIRE party bend the knee to him, I couldn't stomach it anymore. I was #NeverTrump before it had that name & will remain so until my last breath, maybe longer.
To insult someone, that someone must care what your opinion of that someone is. Of all the people on this planet, there are exactly 11 people whose opinion of me matters to me. Hint: none of them are you.
That said, congratulations on being the most ignorant person I've encountered on this app. 👍
I personally agree with True Crime
For me is was Palin was a dumbass bridge too far BUT I was not politically engaged either
Folks should remember bait all history is taught civics not taught
Also Biz schools geared around Reagan neoliberalism
Until you have walked in others shoes let’s not judge
Yes and Steve Bannon also knew a message of extreme hate for all minorities would play very well in the GOP base and apparently over 70 million people. It’s not like the ppl are voting for the GOP to sell them out to billionaires, they just want hatred of others. Which is fucking sad and terrifying.
I prefer not being on any “team”. There are values I ascribe to that align more with Dems, but there are some I don’t. I used to ascribe to some repub values like small govt, but they don’t actually believe in that I found out
My dad and also my father-in-law both were fiscally conservative. Their GOP died decades ago, but it did have some reasonable principles and it also struck deals across the aisle on most major legislation.
Fiscally conservative just means they liked what the government spent money on or didn’t. If you liked what the government spent money on, you weee fiscally conservative, if not you were a commie liberal
What exactly is ‘small government’? The last few decades as the population has grown, the number of government employees has not. Is that smaller? Are you talking about reducing waste and corruption? Are you talking about deregulating everything? (That one has backfired a number of times)
Id define it as the governments ability to encroach on my individual choices. Telling me who I can or can’t marry. Telling me how I can or cannot get medical procedures. What I can or cannot ingest into my body.
As long as I’m not hurting someone else, it’s none of the government’s business.
Trump didn’t turn the base of the party racist he just gave them permission to be. The majority of republicans have always been one of sexist, racist, homophobic, and xenophobic if not all of. See the southern strategy and their dog whistles about AIDS and welfare queens through the years.
Not sure if I’d go with “the majority” but I’d agree with “ a sizeable minority “. Just on racism alone I think many of them don’t clearly understand what it is tbh and they would struggle to define it or it’s sidekick “xenophobia” .
It's amazing to me, but the most experienced Republicans at centers of power apparently did not see the ground shifting because Nathan their feet. Absolutely unbelievable.
