I have Barred and Great Horned Owls in my backyard. Barred Owls are much easier to find and photograph than the more skittish Great Horned. They will let me approach them and often calmly look down at me while photographing. #birds

We have a pair of Barred owls who live in the park across the street. They are used to people so you can watch them as they swoop and hunt in front of you. Only downsides are when they occasionally dive-bomb people's heads. And wake you up at night with their loud hooting and screams. 😂
What I wouldn’t give to have barred owls and/or great horned owls in my backyard woods! I envy you. We have deer and foxes and woodpeckers but I have yet to see any owls in our trees.
Yes! I have both a barred and barn owl that lives in the woods behind my house. I had a “moment” a couple weeks ago with the barred owl where we just looked at each other for a long time. It was so cool.
