Oh no! As a mostly blind chick, I used to count on the grackles as I walked to work in the summer. I knew just when to turn right without stepping into traffic once they started ruckusing, and if they didn’t sound, I knew the local crazy guy might be in the bushes so, very very helpful.
I am on a plane leaving TX as I wrote this. It was my first time seeing a Grackle and they were so much fun to watch. Now I return to Oregon, land of the Starling.
When they sense a threat, that loud chatter can be horrid to have to hear. But if you can sit very very still, they make the prettiest little noise. It sounds like a brook bubbling along over rocks in it's way
