I don’t know how this has sneaked under the radar, but he’s seizing an area that was designated for affordable housing to turn it into cop city. Democrats continue to amaze me with their ability to find new ways to render themselves unpopular.

My fave part is it's closer to North Prov than most of Johnston. So he specifically chose a spot way out of the way because it was easy to pick off a project that would benefit lower income families. During a housing crisis.
Tell me you don’t know Johnston without saying I don’t know Johnston (hint: it is a reactionary town that hates POCs and loves trump and votes for D mayors because this is a one party state)
Of course not. Last night they basically shut out dozens of people from even attending the hastily announced "public hearing."
But it also does not mean this particular Dem mayor should be held up as a "Dems don't get it" post, which seems to be a very popular theme on here these days.
I mean, they don’t get it. Large sectors of the Democratic Party are engaged in laughing at people being deported rather than any meaningful reflection on how they fumbled what should have been a ridiculously easy election to win.
That is a broad brush. Dem leaders like Healey and Walz demonstrate that they know how to affect progressive change in their states. Ofc many others (like our gov) do not.
I understand your frustration about the party but using Johnston, RI as an example is a stretch.
