I’ve always rather liked the deep silliness of this version, too. (Content warning: May prompt a slightly pathetic faraway look in the eyes of gentlemen of a certain age)
Far more important than either of these things, though – it’s the 214th anniversary of the Berners Street Hoax, in which a woman was bombarded with unwanted deliveries and callers, including chimney sweeps, pianos, cakes, a duke, and an archbishop
Just remembered that, according to Jeremy Beadle, I have another historical anniversary today: a woman who married a dead man in order to stop him haunting her friends
This is from his 1980 book, Today’s the Day!, but I have found no mention of it in any other source, so (quite apart from the fact that it sounds like balls) it’s probably balls
It was hit and miss but there were actually some pretty funny sketches on Muppets Tonight. I always liked the When Harry Met Sally "faking a sneeze" sketch with Billy Crystal. https://youtu.be/lVR-MVy70v0?feature=shared
Yes, I misworded it slightly. The Muppets did it on Ed Sullivan a couple of days after it was on Sesame Street. So it wasn’t on The Muppet Show, but it was the muppets!
Yes was going to say I think this version was from the first series of The Muppet Show, though there is this earlier version from the Ed Sullivan show. https://youtu.be/zb47CstE7R4?feature=shared
