We started using S Rosetta as a model system to study cell division in a broader context. We have a first set of super interesting data and it's been a joyous adventure with awesome collaborators (notably @thibautbrunet.bsky.social ) (3/n)

We've also had a ton of problems. 5 grants rejected, including fellowships for lab members. Our media absolutely crashed and it took forever to solve (multiple problems, unresponsive commercials, general slowness of testing). We were all relieved to go on holidays. (4/n)
I've finally managed to start traveling abroad again, and I'm happy to say that most of it I've done by train (paris, uk, Lyon, Basel)! It's been nice meeting science people again and I can only do this because my partner handles both kids at home. (5/n)
On the personal side, I'm finding my balance between enjoying my science life and spending time with my partner and kids. I now protect time for this specifically, even if sometimes I feel bad about being less productive than others. (6/n)
That means taking time off Mondays to take my daughter to hockey. Spending Saturday morning at music class for my son. Going to random durch town for hockey games. Having a sitter so that partner and I can go to FC Utrecht football games (7/8)
Overall, it's been a tough but formative year, and I'm looking forward to 2025 surrounded by awesome lab members, collaborators, friends and family! Bring it on!
