Japanese maples are not native.
Most crabapples and flowering cherries are not native.
Many pines/conifers are planted outside their native range and may not support the same number of insect species.
Look for the varieties of oak, birch, pine, fir, cherry, maple, cottonwood, and alder that are native to your region and plant those!
