We are horrible carriers of the tradition of American democracy. But the founding fathers weren’t blameless. It was a mistake to make the Supreme Court lifetime appointments, basically have no means to make them accountable for corruption, and too small (and thus easy to take over with corruption).
Eighteen years would be good for government, except the President. One 18 yr term for SCOTUS and Federal Judge appointees, 3 terms for Senate, 9 terms for House
Good point, but in any era lifetime appointments are a bad bad idea. Interestingly, I know of several composers from the 18th century who lived to ripe age, including one that lived to 101! But shorter, limited appointments needed.
Trumpism is here, established and anyone who objects will receive an executive order. I hadn’t realized how many of our fellow citizens were so naive as to drink the KoolAid.
Which is why it is high time for our honorable military professionals to uphold their oaths to the Constitution and the American people. It's written into our founding laws.
“May the Declaration of Independence be to the world what I believe it to be, a signal to arouse men. Calling them to burst from their chains under which monkish ignorance & superstition have persuaded them to bind themselves, & assume the blessings & security of self-government.” Thomas Jefferson
