it might be twitter honestly, but it's genuinely a shame that ppl will genuinely hate people who view a video game made for children differently than them, talking sum shit like "i angered the comp/casual players" you didnt anger no one you all just look goofy now, yall play differently, that's okay
I'd like to argue it's because the casual side has an obvious issue of ignorance to the competitive side of the game and often try to involve themselves into discourse that they know nothing about
i think its also an issue of comp players also having egos be way too big and acting like casuals are below them. its an issue with both sides of the game, something im upset to see as someone who is able to enjoy the game casually and competitively, that there's such a discourse between everyone
I can tell you, if nothing else, it is way less bad now than it was during splatoon 2. At least now casual players have anarchy open/series and competitive players have X battles, the constant debate between tryhard vs thrower back when everyone was forced into the same X rank lobbies was awful
this is like the comp v casual tf2 discussion, sure we have multiple queues for a bunch of ppl, but there are still ppl who 4-stack in open and casuals complain, there are casuals who play x and comp players complain, there's like one good rot in the hour and everyone's playing it, its hard to argue
Yeah the fact that they reformed league to make it a part of open rather than adding league separately was their biggest mistake in spl3 in my opinion, it just forces everyone who wants to play together with others back into the same matchmaking regardless of if they play for fun or play to win
this is also the issue i saw w tf2, that the competitive matchmaking is a desert so everyone has to play casual or go to a community server, which doesnt necessarily solve the issue.
for spl, ppl shouldnt be partying in pubs, and ppl shouldnt be spawncamping. but they do, and then issues spawn
i didnt think id get 34 likes on a post so hi my name is coastline i play comp and i talk about stringers a lot you should follow and do clicks https://arab.org/click-to-help/palestine/
yes no one should get heated. everyone should play the king of fighters 2002 unlimited match and follow me to help me find the original kyo, kyo kusanagi! i am his clone
I think it's some of the top level comp that's the problem. You don't see that in mid/low level at all. There's good top players who love welcoming in new talent into the community, & there's the minority that has the biggest ego, trashes anyone below them, & wonder why no one wants to fight them.
its also an issue of casual players as well, some will condemn you for breathing in a way that lets them know you play comp, doesn't matter who you are. its a big issue in every game that has a competitive scene, but i think its something a community such as splatoon can overcome

im more on the comp side and idk people who hate casuals, and a lot of casual players i know dont hate comp players either
but also some conflict is common in competitive games with both audiences unfortunately :(
