I’ve driven in Toronto. The cyclists and pedestrians don’t look for cars either. Everyone on Young Street has the self preservation instincts of a flight of cruise missiles.

I drive, bike and walk in Toronto daily, and based on this experience, I take exception to the implication that non-drivers here somehow share responsibility for drivers not looking where they're going.

I just want everyone to look where they are going. Pointing at the ground is not going to give be me enough time to stop if you step out in front of my car from behind a delivery van. Or better yet try using the God damn crosswalk.

This morning, while riding in the Bloor St separated cycle track, I was nearly right hooked by a driver making an illegal right on a red. It barely registers anymore because something like this happens nearly every time I go out.

Toronto tunnel vision is a thing. Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists in Buffalo or even in NYC tend to pay a lot more attention to what is going on around them and each other. I love visiting Toronto but driving there is rough.

I found this really hairy in NYC - as someone coming from the UK when the crossing says go for pedestrians it doesn’t mean “look out for vehicles turning too!”
