I swear it's been a problem for the longest time that american superhero comics can be ruined by either the writer or editorial having hurt feelings or a barely disguised fixation and making it everyone else's problem. It can happen in any medium, but it's especially the case for Marvel and DC.

Western TV and superhero creatives just go all out attacking everyone, whereas to find out about some mangaka's troubled times with an editor and publisher, you'd see some subpar plotline with all too many characters in a tournament arc, and then one of them is a giant penis monster

I don't know to what degree it's that editorially mandated because I feel the issues in pacing keep being there in mars chronicles but I'll agree it's definitely a wall that takes the wind out of reading it

The Omnibus editions include a whole bunch of "reader contests" for designing characters that would appear in the story, one of the last ends with every single winner entry just appearing for a single page where they murder each other

It's really funny how NO ONE outside of a few specific people that write Spider-Man at marvel love Paul. Even in The New Venom series Dylan Brock all but calls Paul a cuck, because he technically can't.
