It’s a quiet betrayal, dressed in loud words of concern. Speeches about peace. Promises to end the war in 24 hours or by next month. Glimpses of hope, dangled in front of us — only to be withdrawn, as if we were plagues to be avoided.
Some are asleep in ignorance. Some in indifference. Some wear the rose-tinted glasses of diplomacy. And in that sleep, lives are lost. Lives are taken — by russian missiles, by collapsed buildings, by shattered hearts too tired to keep beating.
People who say we will be "just like them" if we lower ourselves to their level can f$&K off, there's a huge difference between an army using violence to subjugate a nation and an army using violence against an aggressor to free a nation. Blow Russia to f$&king hell and see how peaceful it gets. 💥
This war has stolen something from everyone. Some lost their homes. Others, their loved ones. Many lost sleep. Some lost peace. And more and more, people are losing hope.
I can’t say where, or who was doing this, but at the day of No Kings protests a family was holding a sign saying Protect Ukraine. While Americans are under attack in their own country they are not forgetting about you, I promise.
