A couple months ago I was teaching 7th graders about the Utah War and Buchanan's posse comitatus. I had a class ask, "Why do we need to learn this?! When is this every going to be relevant?"

Governor Cox and other LDS folks cheering on sending the marines into LA to support ICE would (if they weren't LDS in the 19th century) have cheered on President Buchanan sending troops to quell the Mormon "rebellion" that led to the Mormon War, even though our ancestors feared religious oppression.
