Lots of people here unhappy that FF and FG are doing well in the counts, but they are blaming the electorate. I find it baffling. There are reasons your chosen party didn't connect with those people, the blame needs to be placed on the party, not the electorate. #GE24

You're right, the alternative haven't connected with a big portion of the electorate.
But there is also a huge portion who either (i) believe FF/FG can solve housing and health despite all evidence to the contrary, or (ii) see their failure in those areas, and simply don't care.
Now on competency and failures, that's different - but they need a credible alternative #GE24

But again, the dominant way of analysing Irish politics says that the parties of the left "refuse" to come together, whereas FF and FG are being perfectly sensible to stay apart while selling the same politics...?
But for the others: we all speak as though what's "credible" isn't heavily informed by 100 years of the same 2 parties.
Difficult to be credible if credible means "looks and smells like FF/FG", and if "credible alternative" is an oxymoron.
Because FF/FG ideology is baked into the national psyche.
