Dear Fellow White people
When you are okay with racism
"Ah that's just Great Aunt Millicent, pay her no mind"
*laughs along with racist joke to not be the woke killjoy*
etc
You're racist.
The racist bones in your body are the spine in which you lack.

My favorite person in the world as a child, even as an adult, was my Grandfather. We had a very special connection, and that was a thing I desperately needed as a child.
I reacted to him like small children do with Elmo. When we moved out of Philly
ANYHOO.
He was a racist.
And even from the time I was little, I would lose my shit about it.
As a smol child I knew this.
And I'd lose my shit, get laughed at or worse punished and would leave the room.
I'd hear the nword and start screaming, and end up running out in tears.
So yeah, don't upset
I get it if you can't speak up for fear of reprisal. Bread has to hit the table. You don't pick a fight with a bigger group when you're alone. I'm not talking about that shit.
I'm talking about ALL THE REST.
And get off the bullshit
Anyway, I was more upset when a small Banksia I'd planted died than when he did.
So, it is never sufficient to be "not racist", we have to be actively anti-racist in our attitudes & actions to overcome racism.
