I thought she was strong, too. However, maybe like myself, not enough people knew who she was before this race.
That said, I would be very happy to see her have a prominent role in the new gov’t.
I’m sure all the other candidates thought they would do better. Complete landslide for Carney. I don’t recall a leadership race in Canada with that kind of outcome.
I think this is more reflective of how radioactive Trudeau became in latter months than anything else. Basically the only thing the average person knows about Gould is that she was one of his cabinet ministers.
She would have been my number 2 choice but I only voted for Mark Carney and left rest of ballot blank, not wanting to mess around and dilute my own choice. Baylis nicked at least a point off of her and Freeland swayed a couple late inning points off her as well. Her numbers just didn't quite hold.
She was the one person who bought up the housing crisis during the leader debate too.
But, being from within his cabinet she's too close to Trudeau for next federal election. I'm sure liberals who voted know what's at stake for the party going into the next election, now Canada w trump's threats.
