PLAN. Once you leave, you cannot reenter. So before you go [I won't use the word escape], Settle everything you need to settle, make arrangements for things to be shipped, take pets with you. And plan on NOT coming back for a very long time or perhaps forever.

The question about US citizens being denied reentry on a US passport (effectively making trans people stateless, which would be a significant new global precedent) is serious enough that I would like to see verification or at least a credible anecdote before reposting.

Not for nothing, silence on the matter and one person claiming it’s happening while also saying they haven’t fact checked it is not news, it’s fearmongering. As a trans person overseas, myself, I would like some actual confirmation of this taking place.

As a transgender women residing in Australia as an American citizen, I have no desire to return to the states. Only protect my loved ones who are there now. If I could move all of them my queer family, to Australia I would do so in a heart beat. We have a ways to go but better by the US by far

On paper, the law says that no US citizen can be barred from entry to the US for any reason.

That being said, the rule of law doesn't really seem to matter that much these days.

For those of us who can afford a lawyer, it might be worth keeping them in touch incase you are denied entry.
