One of the big challenges for lower mowing frequencies is developing systems for managing the cut material - Derry has lots of piles of dumped grass hidden in the trees! Local composting areas might work for a lot of it

I have a fantastic book on floral lawns for smaller spaces called 'Tapestry Lawns' and found it solved the 'excess clippings' issue for me. 3-5 mowings a year to maintain a steppable lawn without grass.

Cork County Council had this squad working on a high colour perennial verge, there are also quad pulled and hand pushed mini balers that can be bought to do the job.

Bales could be sold on or composted after.

Lots of NI Councils are using Amazone cut and lift machines, so could be loaded into trailers. Problem is staffing - would no longer be a 1-person job?

In Manchester we organised the mowing of a large meadow but couldn’t find buyers for hay because of risk of dog foul contamination…. Not such a problem if composting of course
