Europe has many socialist practices. Never seen them predominantly say their lives are worse than death. I have however seen 80:1 people say "that man that shot the health insurance CEO is a hero and we'll all collectively protect him and wish him lots of luck in staying low".
I haven't seen that. I have seen that money <> healthcare. No one forces anyone to give money to health insurance companies. If their service doesn't please you don't purchase it.
The threat of medical bankruptcy forced people to give health insurance money. The health insurance companies can decide if you get their coverage and what packages you can afford. If Trump ends the ACA like he’s always wanted they will get more power to do so with pre-existing condition crap. Again
This country is filled with people who go bankrupt from healthcare costs. You can lose your house and everything. Being uninsured is a horror show and being insured is often not much better when push comes to shove. And since it’s so heavily tied to employers it weakens workers bargaining strength.
No one can live your life for you, no matter how much money you give them. Most drugs and services should be easily available over the counter. Addiction is another issue, often promulgated by the industry, promises of expensive "scientificly proven" cures which aren't.
Okay? People don’t want to deal with parasitic insurance companies telling them they need to pay $500 a month or more only to have the company do everything in its power to renege on its obligations and deny claims for a profit. And it’s more that drugs. Break your arm? $$$. Cancer? $$$.
If you want to go live off the grid on some survivor ranch in a Dakota cut off from society that is your prerogative. Most of us want a system and society that isn’t run by rich sociopaths who want to profit off our desire to stay alive and healthy.
In my experience most diseases are medical-establishment enabled. A cancer diagnosis is very convenient and profitable for them and lets them off the hook completely liability wise.
