Maybe, particularly as the gentailers scramble to build huge battery resources before we do. But... prices have been falling 10 to 15% a year for some time now. Healthy competition, emerging technologies, and standards catching up (V2G). Batteries will knock nuclear on its bum before it gets up.

If someone could show me how many nuclear projects have been build on time and within say +20% of their build budget I'd be much more conformable.
The fact that no private operator would go within a mile of it is a message to gov. that it's a bad bet.
Logic is not a strong point in government.

I grew up using nuclear. No bias against it. Simple economics renders it useless. It's just the libs playing politics. The science has pointed towards solar and batteries for 5 years now.

I'm English myself and I remember all the issues with the Winscale plant in Cumbria.
Dumping barrels of radioactive waste into the Irish Sea at night so they wouldn't be spotted.
Solar would make more sense here with abundant sun and space to deploy it.
Only storage is the last piece in the jigsaw.

I think we we see a big difference when Snowy 2 is complete (at least in south East states).
It should act like a giant sponge soaking up all that excess daytime power.
Unfortunately in SA & WA we don't have enough water to create an equivalent.
Not sure about Qld.

Go check how much the French are over budget for Hinkley C. Then check how much UK spends every yr on the temporary storage of nuclear waste and decontamination of closed plants.

Nuclear is as welcome as a fart in a space suit in Australia.

That's of zero relevance to Australia. We have vast spaces with amazing solar potential. We have limited water. We have rigorous and lengthy planning, safety and environmental requirements. We have construction unions. Just not gonna happen here.
