as an independent getting health care on the market now, i have to budget for 24k just for premiums. don't get me started on deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, out of network...
One thing I hear a lot is universal healthcare will have a wait list, but isn't that what we have now... If I need to see a specialist, my appointment is usually a minimum 3-6 months out.
Not so fun fact, from 1990 until the ACA, when the OECD definition changed from "public" to "public/compulsory" the US spent a slightly higher proportion of its GDP on public healthcare than the UK.

Not only did my then-insurer cancel my coverage, but they cancelled my entire company's insurance.
That's not as serious as losing insurance for a life-threatening chronic disease, or even on cured... but
