One pernicious step after another, Bezos encroached on the Post editorial policy. Today he seized it fully. The old Washington Post is gone. I'll never write for it again as long as he's the owner.

The Philly Inquirer has been good but doesn't have the same level of national & internationcapitalized, obviously. I'd like to see them move towards that, not sure about feasibility. But they haven't capitulated.
There is a recent trend of billionaires purchasing broadcast, print, and online media outlets to slant news coverage toward their personal political agendas, or to curry favor with Trump by favoring MAGA propaganda.
Totally peeping it! It’s absolutely disgusting that they’re buying America (trying to). To help push more misinformation, start running “State sponsored” propaganda and create new types of fake news. Despicable.
I believe Elmo bought Twitter in order to tank it. All the news stories about jilted investors missed the point. Lots of billionaires stand to gain from an injured U.S.
Money works the same way as giving someone a badge. Cops act like they can fuck with anybody because most people don't want to fight someone with a badge and billionaires think their every word is gold b/c most people don't think they have the resources to challenge them.
That gets to be hard since they own the only dedicated source of tv/movie data logs with cross referencing using all known work in the industry. A source that individuals and industry pros use. If we had a replacement for IMDB I think I could possibly go without any of his products.
The never click through part is important. It drives down their metrics, for sure, but it’s important for writers at the Post who are still hanging on to know that we ain’t reading them.
Ben Bradlee, Bob Woodward, Carl Bernstein, these are names that inspired generations of journalists all over the world. It's painfull to see The Washington Post being torn apart by a billionaire who is eager to please the president of the United States by showing him that he is a so-called 'patriot'
Also cancelled prime and sold the stock I’ve owned since 2001. Hey Jeff, MacKenzie is such a mensch. Dont you miss her over the plastic/I’ll do anybody (with $) dolly? I mean, can you really trust her, knowing she’d do you?
So sad what is going on in the media today
I worked for Newsweek Magazine when Mrs Graham owned it and worked at NBC Tv when they couldn’t get involved with cable Tv
They were limited to what they own
in the media and now anyone can own our news outlets
SCARY
Worked at WaPo in the 80s during the Bradlee era as an art director and have been so proud of my connection there for decades. Until now. This is a blow.
So sorry to watch this ship go down. I recall reading Kathrine Grahams biography and thinking what an edifying thing to be a part of (I also recall her husband Phil being quite the wild & unpredictable business icon). Maybe it can still be saved.
Mr. Maraniss, I continue to appreciate your work and commentary, having cancelled my subscription to WaPo after the endorsement debacle. For years you’ve been a treasured resource and that has little to do with where you publish or where you appear.
How efficiently press freedom evaporates: from newspaper of Watergate to billionaire's personal newsletter. Nothing reveals democracy's erosion quite like watching America's premier investigative outlet transform into an Amazon shareholder report. Even Hearst was more subtle about his propaganda
Well sir , if WaPo had more balance in its reporting and so forth, then maybe Bezos and company might not be on this path .
Sad to say but WaPo has become nothing more the PR wing of the dnc.. You have almost no credibility anymore .
The Post is seriously out of fashion and out of step with the mood of the country. Anyone watching what's gone on since January could have predicted something along these lines.
The levelling of the press has begun in the name of free speech. Be afraid of what's coming, people. Gullible slaves being fed shit by the new masters of the universe.

Washington Post: Taylor’s Version.
All the sane and DEI-fired folks come together to become the true Post instead of the seized one.
Washington Post is now a pernicious organization’
WAPO in 2025
That’s one thing I mostly agreed with (although most likely not for the same reasons as Bezos did it).
