Hard disagree. If anything, removing Cuba from the state sponsor of terrorism list is four years too late. Our anachronistic and ineffective Cuba policy inflicts more misery on the Cuban people than on the country’s leadership. Biden wasted 4 years, not even naming an ambassador to work on policy.

This is the relevant part of the policy change: "Lifted sanctions on companies run by Cuba’s military." You can't justify supporting a rapacious elite terrorizing, beating, jailing & torturing hundreds of young kids simply because they want a say in how they are governed.

True, Cuba’s military controls the economy and is brutally repressive, yet for half a century our Cuba policy has been ineffective and counterproductive. Obama headed in a new direction which showed promise, but Trump walked it all back. Yes, we can’t reward the bad guys, pero el tema es complicao.

As someone who was in Cuba during the Obama détente & has visited the country about 20x over the years, this is not strictly accurate. An opening as Raúl replaced Fidel made sense at the time but in the intervening years the regime has become as repressive as ever. Trump did not make them do that.
