My chapter aims to shine a light on the intersectionality and diversity of the working-class experience in Victorian-era writing across genres from poetry and song to essay and biography. I hope to make readers aware of non-canonical writers rather than the same old Dickens and Gaskell references.

I've loved spotting all the Trainspotting references in Ben Clarke's (no relation) intro. The volume is so wide ranging, covering the early modern period to now across Europe, Asia, East Africa and the USA.

As a closing thought, I'm super honoured to be chapter neighbours with the amazing Florence Boos, whose research on working-class women had been foundational in working class literary scholarship. Huge thanks to Ben Clarke, who is a very understanding editor and so supportive of ECR struggles.
