My dad had a pacemaker for 10 years that eventually wore out. He needed a new one, and rather than performing the procedure right away, his insurance company gave him a cardiac vest to wear for 90 days. If he made it the three months, they would give him a new pacemaker.

I've seen this happen with so many people on medications, including myself. 'We'll approve this for 3 months, then re-evaluate'. Meanwhile, if I had a different insurance...
