Actually, I think it was corporations, the stock market, corporate policies, workers… as an executive assistant for the last 30 years I’ve seen boardrooms and executive offices go from a sea of White men to a rainbow of color & gender that represents the entire market- better for business!
A female friend got a job in a city office,of a large accountancy firm. The first thing she observed, all l the top jobs went to men, all of whom went to the same top flight University.
And Southeast Asians: see Vivek and Usha. The implementation of the minority set aside contracts over the past 40 years have gone to those who least deserved them.
it's true. Without Affirmative Action, I would never have been able to have a career in the field I did. and even with it, let me tell you it was fuck HARD to overcome the men who didn't want me there.
Is there a way to identify people who were a DEI hires? I doubt it says so in their personnel file. If it’s a gov’t job that requires a civil service exam, and if there are different passing scores for different groups of people, that might be a way to figure it out.
Still should not abandon the program. Even if progress is slow, it is still progress. But now that the government has abandoned it we need to grow it in private business. And support the ones that still do.

DEI involves ensuring that people with the appropriate skills and qualifications are not excluded from employment because of the prejudices of an employer.
They said the same things when it was called Affirmative Action. They automatically assumed that anyone other than straight white men only got the job or the college admission because of affirmative action, and were unqualified.
That’s Trump’s entire schtick…pitting one group of people against another and then watching the battle.

To the GOP, “DEI” is the equivalent of an educated “welfare queen” or “thug” & it’s tossed about the same way in the right’s vitriolic rhetoric. WW got so caught up in that bond of whiteness that they voted against their very own interests. Wait until they find out that club is for white men only.
Yelling about “DEI” hires is a way for these people to express their desire to keep black people out of spaces they believe should be reserved for them. When they become more comfortable, they'll start using the “N” word instead of DEI.
