After a few days of reflection, I understand Axel's reasoning, but I can't help but feel that Vanni's sacking is yet another lost piece of this city's "soul" and character. We cut out the things that make us unique in exchange for a homogenous skyline and a manager where culture takes a back seat

Winning is important, yes, and Vanni did quite a bit of that. But he also deeply understood the underlying reason we're all here - the love football and competition, and the difference we can make as a community. Losing him on a gamble for a better 2025 begs the question, will it all be worth it?

His off the pitch persona is definitely big boots to fill. He got the team noticed (although you can't always say in a good way! 😄) and people loved him. That's hard to find in a coach these days. That said, winning is the ultimately important factor and I do feel he'd taken them as far as he could.

It's a tough pill to swallow but I do agree, a kick in the ass might be exactly what we need to reach the next level. Maybe it'll become Vancouver's own (Gregg) Berhalter->Pochettino moment. Come on Axel, stick the landing here.
