Nintendo fans often lament the fact Nintendo doesn’t make more Mother games but, that story is over! Those are games built on Itoi’s voice and he told the story he wanted to tell, there’s no reason to drudge it up…

Crash Bandicoot’s original games all had a specific voice from a specific team, and what came afterwards were, not always attempts at recreating that voice, and I think there’s a lot you can dig into there about “was crash sticking around worth it”…

I couldn’t answer that but I do think there’s a lot of value in a long lasting character being given to different artists with different visions and getting to see what different people think of “crash bandicoot”. I can’t say I think that’s inherently worthless

it's a little bit funny to me because like even the biggest sonic creators out there these days (tyson hesse, Ian flynn, etc) are very much of the opinion that every previous iteration of sonic is something unique and worth celebrating

I’ve found not being on Twitter has very much increased my enjoyment of discussing the series and I picked a very good time to get into it. It’s more fun to discuss various perspectives and views on the series as art when it isn’t worded like a twitter take down ownage bait type thing.

I was talking about this a while ago, but while it had flaws I liked how The Legend of Korra went ahead and advanced the setting of the Avatar world into something that was aesthetically and technologically far removed from the first series.
