The way I see it is that we have a government that cares about the UK and Ukraine and is making what it thinks are the best decisions based upon the hand it's been dealt, both domestically and abroad.

In the real world, that's what you have to do. Make a decision and hope it works out well.

My main point is he could use this massive external geopolitical shift to justify talking about the case for tax increase. We need a leader who explains, teaches, the complex situation, & a proposal, with justification, to address.

The increases in defence spending don't strike me as adequate to the situation we're facing, so more money will need to be found soon.

Raiding foreign aid buys time until the budget, when Reeves will be able to make the case for higher earners and/or some business sectors to pay more tax.
