I thought I made up the word bloop for this comic but it turns out “Bloop" refers to a ultra-low-frequency underwater sound detected by the NOAA in 1997. It initially caused speculation about giant sea monsters, but was later identified as the sound of icequakes in Antarctica. (Source: Wikipedia)
