But regarding the movies, probably Flow, Club Zero and Perfect Days. I think those are all the movies I have even seen in theatre this year all together. I grab movies at work and watch them at home, most of the time.
Furthermore, this is just really condescending to international audiences who are the ones that made these figures in the first place.
Inside Out, Moana, Despicable Me, Kung Fu Panda & Beetlejuice were all originally fresh IPs based on nothing. Maybe 4 films is a lot but clearly families want to see them.

Internet has always been relatively negative especially towards corporates. The fake positive is even more irritating. They come across passive aggressive and even more negative like you.

Mass market entertainment (which is what Hollywood is about) is all about familiarity and comfort. Sequels, etc give the mainstream this. Yes, it would be great to see new, original IP dominating. But that (1)

Over half the movies I’ve seen in a theatre the last 5 years have either been documentaries. The other half original movies.
This is capitalism. People go with the stuff they're used to, familiar with, names they know.
