I might give it 3rd chance this xmas, two prior stopped me with progress-preventing bugs. I know it's not universal experience, and I'm a fan of the creators, but it just did not work...
Oh without a doubt, the "When it's ready" mantra they had at the start of production is what they should have stuck with. I would have happily waited until last year to have it if it meant it came out as it did in the later patches/PL's release.
Is worth it now, everything that was an issue (at least on console) has been fixed and improved. Really great game now, can get a good 100+hrs in it with all the side missions etc.
Technicality wise, yes. Content wise... it's a good game, but not as great as the internet makes it out to be. The game has long interludes of pure mediocrity amidst some highs here and there. My main problem with the game is - it just feels shallow it seems to lack an identity.
Where scifi games like System Shock (2023), E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, and Hyper Light Drifter have their own unique themes and traits, Cyberpunk 2077 JUST feels like the "default template" for a 3D open world scifi game. I hope you get the gist of what I'm saying.
Personally I loved it, but then I played the tabletop version as well so that gave far more context (the in game pick ups and lore points gave a lot of this in game too).
I'd have rather they waited and fleshed out the dlc's they were going to do but couldn't, that would have added more.
Loved it from release day - on the "unplayable" PS4 version - and have loved seeing it grow into the game it is now. Yes, it should have been released like this to begin with, but getting angry at the past doesn't change it.
Very rough start. I did regret my collectors edition purchase for a long time...but then through their hard work and dedication that continues to this very day...it's my favorite game of all time. I start a new run when shit sucks and that's often these days.
Still fuck CDPR. The abhorrent quality of the game on the PS4 base model is still infuriating. I mean, look at at RDR2. It should be possible for a big developer to bring out the game in a acceptable state.
Yeah, as much as I love the game in its refined state, I don't want the industry to start getting the idea that it can be excused for releasing games in an unfinished state if they take it through a "redemption arc" for good publicity.
I played it through three times on base PS4, starting from release day. It was absolutely messy as fuck, but still a lot of fun and nowhere near as unplayable as it was made out to be.
I know. So what? A thousand people could think the same thing, and it would still be a thousand personal opinions on the same level as my one. I'm really not sure where we're going.
They should never have released it on PS4. RDR2 is less graphically advanced - might look better than C2077 though due to faking meaning art teams put significant effort to achieve it. Also, creating realistic foliage in this way, as in RDR2, is significantly easier than it would be with cityscapes.
Sure, and I agree with you overall, I just think they shouldn't have released it at all on old-gen. I believe this is also the opinion of many industry experts and as I remember even some people within CDPR itself. This was the main mistake by their management to push for sales on older platforms.
Unfortunately CDPR caved to the pressure of releasing it early because they had set themselves up for that by changing the release date over and over again and they also felt the pressure from fans. They really should have just been honest and delayed the game so that it didn’t blow up like it did.
One of the best games ever and one of the best storylines ever too. I still visit Night City from time to time because I just can’t get enough of it. 😭
I got this on release day and at the time my Xbox One actually died on me and I had to wait 6 months to finally get my hands on the Series X. With that though, I’ve never had any problems with this game and loved every second of it!
I loved my time with it at release on PC. Ran pretty well and I personally only had a couple of glitches but nothing game breaking. I loved the story, characters, environment and gameplay. Can't wait to replay it at some point and 100% all the content with the new fixes.
Probably Microsoft and CD Projekt Red's shareholders. I think they should have just scrapped the PS4/Xbox One versions and put their focus on PC and the then new consoles. Who knows what would have happened but I think the reaction might have been less severe.
