Maybe I'm too stupid or have no artistic understanding of Birdman, but I didn't enjoyed that movie. Watched it on 2 different occasions and at least a year appart, but still didn't like it. Maybe I don't have the right taste for Cinema. I did love Oppenheimer and CODA.
Agreed. Birdman remains a mystery to me. My top three from the list are the three most recent winners. Maybe I’m just shallow but they were each really emotionally rewarding films.
im so out of touch with the movie industry i have never heard of a single one of these besides oppenheimer, and thats only bc of the barbenheimer memes lol
I think the top five are EEAAO, Parasite, Moonlight, The Departed, and No Country. Of those I’d probably go Parasite.
What could be a cool tradition to start is picking the best Best Picture of every decade. So at the end of 10 years, the last 10 winners face off in a vote. Then every 100 years…
Deffo. For me, I prefer Goodfellas over Departed, but it still holds on it's own. I view No Country better than Fargo. Parasite in time will be cemented as a movie that was worth it's weight in terms of a win, while No Country for me has had enough time to earn it's Win.
I def. Agree with goodfellas/no country takes 👍🏾 i was solely picking out of the best picture winners. Parasite/departed/no country had the best first watch experience for me 👌🏾
I think Moonlight and Everything Everywhere are by far the top of the class, with Nomadland a relatively distant third. For the most part a lot of these are good movies that left me cold in one way or another and overshadowed a better film.
My least favourite is Green Book. The other nominees for Best Picture that year were Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Roma, A Star Is Born and “Vice. I'm still upset Green Book won
Many Best Picture winners are not infinitely rewatchable. I've seen all of these memorable films once or twice but I've seen NCFOM 20 times. It's flawless; timeless -- and the film it beat-out that year, TWBB, is also more repeatable than most of these pictures.
CODA stands for “child of deaf adult(s)”. I’ve only seen a few clips but the general focus is a young American woman/teenager living with her deaf (mute?) mom and dad

And I'm still unhappy that there has been no physical release of this movie
Oppenheimer is a phenomenal film but nothing like that tension or performance of Jeremy Renner in that film alongside Anthony Mackie.
12 Years a Slave would be my 3rd that made me cry. Amazing film.
The Shape of Water and Moonlight comes close though.
And the last shot of the boy, facing the sea, looking at the camera, brings me tears every time.
Why?
Because, if the TV shows me , ill see it, at least, few scenes.
Parasite & Shape of Water are also in their own league.
Crash probably the most hated yet it’s aged so masterfully.

3 of them I would consider as all-time favorites...
1️⃣ Everything Everywhere All At Once
2️⃣ No Country For Old Men
3️⃣ The Artist
The only ones I have no interest in revisiting are Nomadland, Moonlight, Birdman & The Hurt Locker.
